Here I will briefly describe the catagen phase of hair growth. This is a follow up to my article on the anagen phase of hair growth .
After a hair goes through the anagen phase it stops growing and the hair follicle starts to shrink. The hair is no longer getting nourishment from the bloos supply and is slowly weakening. The once solid bulb like structure at the base of the follicle also starts to shrink and eventually dissapears.
The follicle eventually has a very poor or no grip on the hair shaft . The hair becomes so miniaturized that brushin, bathing or even normal day to day body movement may cause it to shed. The catagen phase typically lasts about two to three weeks.
After the hair finishes in the catagen phase it then enters to telogen phase.
